Happy New Year! The Northampton Arts Council is delighted to present our city’s 40th annual New Year's Eve celebration and festival of the performing arts on Sunday, December 31, 2024. First Night Northampton continues to be a unique opportunity to celebrate the vibrancy of our community while sharing time with friends, neighbors, and visitors. The event falls on a Sunday this year, and we look forward to welcoming enthusiastic crowds at the venues and on the streets downtown.

We'll witness a fireworks display at 6:15 pm and gather outside the Hotel Northampton for a “ball-raising” at midnight. A bargain-priced button is still the ticket to over 100 arts and entertainment performances throughout the day and night. The Northampton Arts Council is working to keep our community’s New Year’s Eve tradition intact. Our goals include presenting First Night Northampton, Summer Concert Series, Salsa in the Park, Performance (formerly known as Transperformance), the Northampton Public Arts Festival, Four Sundays, the Silver Chord Bowl, KidsBestFest, The Power of Truths, Back Porch Festival and more. We also advocate on behalf of the arts community and provide a source of revenue for innovative arts programming in our community through direct aid to artists, arts organizations, and public schools for arts enrichment and educational outreach to the community.

First Night depends upon the support of our most important partner—the City of Northampton. We benefit from the assistance of over 125 volunteers who make complex logistical operations run smoothly. The Mayor and Central Services offices, along with the Police, Fire, Public Works, Health Department, and Licensing Departments, are critical to its success. We also rely on the generosity of performance venues throughout the town and button-sales locations throughout the Valley.
